Confessions of A Dangerous Mind (Niebezpieczny umysl)

George Clooney seems to be relishing his director’s debut with this witty and comical bio-pic of Chuck Barris – the ingenious star TV producer of the 60s and 70s. The twist is that Barris (Sam Rockwell) claims to have had a secret life working as an undercover agent/assassin for the CIA. But never mind that the plot is hardly believable. Confessions is an intriguing story, delivered with wit and candor. Clooney has definitely won himself a new level of recognition.

Kill Bill

Quentin Tarantino’s latest offering. Uma Thurman as a member of a gang of expert female assassins led by the eponymous Bill. On her wedding day they try to kill her but she survives in a coma. Five years later she wakes and sets out to revenge herself. Cue a series of amazing fight scenes with samurai, swords and the rest. Not as rounded as Jackie Brown or Pulp Fiction, but a treat anyway.

Love, Actually (To wlasnie milosc)

UK writer Richard Curtis has almost cornered the market in romantic comedies over the last decade. His scripts for Four Weddings and a Funeral, Notting Hill and Bridget Jones’ Diary left most of their US competitors trailing. Love, Actually may do likewise – at least in terms of box office takings. Here goes a bit over the top, giving us double figures of couples in a series of intertwined storylines culminating in en-masse happy endings. It’s formulaic, but that doesn’t stop it from being a decent, lightweight date movie with some rather nice touches.
